Direct Dyeing onto fabric

You may want to use this method to create different colours onto fabric such as


Flat colour

Ombré

Tie Dye

Direct Dye bath

See above for use with which fabrics (plant based)


This recipe is for 100g of dry weight fabric and 3 litres of water

Heat water to about 80 degrees add salt first to dissolve then add

dye.

Seep the fabric into the dye bath for up to 30 minutes depending on colour you wish to achieve.

Rinse and dry


Acid Dye Bath

See above for use with which fabrics (Animal Based)

This recipe is for 100g of dry weight fabric and 3 litres of water

Heat water to about 80 degrees add Ammonium Sulphate first to dissolve then add dye.

Seep the fabric into the dye bath for up to 30 minutes depending on colour you wish to achieve.


Cross dyeing

You may want to dye mixed fabrics like velvet which can be Silk and Viscose this can be achieved by using a mixture of of dyes in one bath, using the instructions below.
